Beach BoysThe Beach Boys sind eine der erfolgreichsten Pop-Bands der USA. Sie war die erste Band, die die Beatles nach Beginn der Beatlemania wieder von Platz 1 der US-amerikanischen Charts verdrängen konnte. Die frühen JahreThe Beach Boys formierten sich im Jahr 1961 in Hawthorne bei Los Angeles in Kalifornien als Coverband. Gründungsmitglieder waren Brian Wilson, seine Brüder Dennis und Carl, ihr Cousin Mike Love und Brians Schulfreund Alan Jardine. Damals wechselte die Band allerdings mehrfach den Namen und hieß Kenny and the Cadets und Carl and the Passions, bevor sie sich in The Pendletones umbenannten. Dies war eine Anspielung auf das Pendleton Plaid Shirt, ein beliebtes Surfer-Hemd[1], der Firma Pendleton Woolen Mills aus Portland (Oregon). Murry Wilson kannte das Verlegerehepaar Dorinda und Hite Morgan, das für eine lokale Plattenfirma arbeitete und stellte ihnen die Band vor. Diese hielten Coverversionen von Charthits nicht für erfolgversprechend, woraufhin die Band ihnen vorschlug, über das Surfen zu singen. Am 15.
